Senior Pastor
Bishop Donald E. Green is Senior Pastor at
San Francisco Christian Center.
Assuming the pastorate in 1966, the church has become one of the
largest non-denominational churches in the City by the Golden
Gate.
In 1959, Bishop Green accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior,
and with spiritual zeal, immediately became involved in street
evangelism. His passion for Christ and
for lost souls has never waned. To build and strengthen marriages
and families, he instituted the Couples Conference in 1971. He
has been married for fifty years to his childhood sweetheart,
Betty. He has one daughter and son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
His academic training and faith-building experiences have qualified
him to be a
man of wisdom. Known as a "Pastor's Pastor", Bishop
Green, understands the
requisites and challenges of ministry and has become a confidante
and advisor to fellow ministers. He is the recipient of an Honorary
Doctorate Degree in Theology from the Southern California School
of Ministry.
In April 1999, he was consecrated to the position of Bishop.
Bishop Green is a man with a vision and determination to see the
continued proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this generation.
In addition to his own pastorate, he has assisted other pastors
in founding Bay Area churches in Antioch, Benicia, Elk Grove,
Fairfield, Rhonert Park, San Jose, and Santa Rosa.
Bishop Green is well known and highly respected as a civic leader,
serving on
the Board of Directors for several community organizations. He
is currently president of the Tabernacle Community Development
Corporation, working for the welfare of the citizens, especially
the underprivileged. Bishop Green is recognized as a man for all
people, serving and ministering to all without regard to race,
nationality, or creed.
